Monday Mumpreneur with Caroline Cain

carocain01Every Monday we feature a mumpreneur just like you and me who’s ready and willing to open up their lives and their business to us.

They share with us their motivation, their challenges and their proudest moments in business and they also tell us how they take time to nurture themselves.

If you’re looking for inspiration, then our featured business mums show you what’s possible.

Today's mumpreneur helps other busy mums create a business that gives them freedom of time, location, expression and financial independence.  And she is a living example of what's possible.

Tell us about your business

I'm a Success Coach and Mentor for entrepreneur mums helping them to create a lifestyle business that gives them freedom of time, location, expression and financial independence…because that’s what I'm all about, full out living in every way. The business model that I use allows me to work part time, spend as much time with and travel with my family all over the world.

My boyfriend Dominic is my IT guru and plays an active role in that side of my business (thanks to him I was able to set up my online business, technology isn't my zone of genius!).

Finding that ever adapting zone of balance between motherhood, relationship, business and life is one that drives my every decision and the reason why I specifically coach mums who, in the results based world we live in can easily get overwhelmed with their passion and everyday living.

What motivated you to become a mumpreneur?

As a natural parenting couple this was a very conscious decision for us so that I could spend more time with our (then future) family bringing freedom of time and location. In the last months of my pregnancy and the first few months I set up my business to be 100% online.

This allows me to choose my hours and having a location independent business has allowed us as a family to, so far, live in France for 3.5 months last summer, now in Thailand for 4 months and heading to Sydney as soon as our Australian visas come through.

Travel and adventure is a big part of what lights us up as people and my mumpreneur business makes this possible for us.

What’s been your biggest challenge in business?

As I have quite strong introvert tendencies, the biggest challenge has been creating a support network. I was already living abroad (in Denmark) when I started by business so it’s been difficult for me to create a strong network of support with other entrepreneurs.

How have you overcome it?

This is still very much a work in progress for me. I have chosen to focus my efforts in just a couple of online groups, getting to know individuals within those groups, specifically UK based as that is where my roots are. 2014 is the year of the Mastermind for me, looking for a tight group where we can share, support and grow together and I’m also looking forward to in-person networking groups once we get to Sydney.

What’s been your proudest business moment?

Having the courage to change my direction, starting over and as a consequence bringing in my first 5 figure month!

What’s your catchphrase or favourite quote?

‘life happens’; flexibility and a fierce commitment to imperfection are vital ingredients for happiness and success (in business, life and motherhood!).

What do you do to relax or nurture yourself?

I’m a pro at relaxing and nurturing myself. Massages, reading, walks in nature…

What was the last treat you bought for yourself?

An almost entirely new summer wardrobe – it was about time with many of my clothes being about 8+ years old!
