Monday Mumpreneur with Deepti Atrish

Every Monday we feature a mumpreneur who’s ready and willing to open up their lives and their business to us.

They share with us their motivation, their challenges and their proudest moments in business and they also tell us how they take time to nurture themselves.

If you’re looking for inspiration, then our featured business mums show you what’s possible. Our message is “If we can do it ~ then so can you!”

This week's inspiring entrepreneur is developing a concept that gives mums a strong consumer voice.  In the future I see this concept being copied in so many ways ~ a business to watch.

Your name:Deepti Atrish

Your website: www.blog.mumsunited.com

Brief description: Daily deals on mums, babies and kids clothing, accessories and gear.

Tell me about your children: Aanya, she is 18 months old. She is my inspiration in launching this venture.

Where do you live? North West London, Harrow in Middlesex

PC or Mac? Mac, recently shifted to Mac, don't find it very friendly for many web applications, still love it.

Tell us about your business - MumsUnited is a channel for busy fashion savvy Mums to get great deals for their little ones and their family.

What motivated you to become a mumpreneur? I have been running an Web agency for last 12 years on B2B side. I have always enjoyed working as an entrepreneur, achieving great results for our clients with my team. This is my first project where I want to utilise our team expertise and go viral on online retail business.

What's been your biggest challenge in business? In coming time I would like MumsUnited to be a two way communication between mums and Brands. My challenge is to make MumsUnited voice of Mums. We would like to effectively offer what deals they want, their wish list and their experiences. These then would be channelised to Brands for making great offers and deals that Mums want to see along with what brands have to offer.

How have you overcome it? We have strategies in place and working on it. It will take time to get this implemented.

What's been your proudest business moment?  I felt really great when on the day of launch we got calls from our Merchants telling how great they feel about our website look and feel.

What's your catchphrase or favourite quote?  "Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new" Albert Einstein

What do you do to relax or nurture yourself?  I love playing and giggling with my daughter every evening and find it quite nurturing.

What was the last treat you bought for yourself? I bought myself beautiful Fioreli Jewellery  from MumsUnited on Mothers Day 🙂

Favourite colour: Peach

Favourite flowers: Lilies

What one piece of advice would you like to give to a new mumpreneur?

Whatever may come don't give up. Success is not going to come overnight, believe in your idea and set correct goals.
