Monthly Mumpreneur Podcast: My Social Media Success Story
Every month we bring you a podcast. It may be an interesting interview, some training to help grow your business or a nurturing relaxation to soothe your weary mumpreneur brow . . . sit back and enjoy.
This month I'd like to share with you my 'Social Media Success Story'.
Since coming online in 2007 I've always maintained that doing my networking online was just as productive as the networking I used to do in the real world. Living now in the 'Middle of Nowhere' it was a strategy I had little option but to embrace. As soon as I tried it, I loved it. And I soon set up a routine of visiting blogs and forums on a regular basis.
I put in a lot of legwork and eventually all my online networking and social media marketing paid off in a big way. My social media success story was featured on Denise Wakeman's high profile blog where, friend of Mums Got A Business, Nicky Kriel read all about it and wanted to interview me.
Not only did she get the juicy details she wanted but she also got me to share some of my tips too. Here's the interview . . .
Nicky's area of expertise is Social Media for Newbies and I'm looking forward to interviewing her soon for a future podcast. It may be for newbies but I'm learning from her all the time 🙂 Let me have any questions you have for her.
I just listened to your podcast, lovely and i got some simple tips on how to gain more from my social media connections.

Pamela,
I’m so glad you got some tips – Yay!
Let me know how you get on with them, we could feature you on the blog.

Oh, this was just lovely!
Thank you both.
Enjoyed every minute — especially hearing your voice again, Heather, and hearing yours for the first time, Nicky. 🙂
I’ll go right along with your #1 social media tip of “being yourself”. And you know what, ladies? I think you’ll agree — once you’ve been online for a while, you can spot a phony a mile away! People who are are “pretenders” never become “influencers” or as you like to say, “go-to” people. They get found out eventually, their true colors come shining through, and since news spreads like wildfire on the internet, their ships are sunk.
I’m anxious to hear next month’s podcast!
Love this feature on Mum’s Got a Business,
Melanie

Thanks Melanie,
Totally agree with you – maybe that’s why I made it tip #1 – I’ve learned that you have to just be yourself. Some people probably won’t like me and that’s OK – I can’t be everything to everyone. I just have to be true to who I am.
Really excited about this feature.
I’ve got some great ideas lined up for future podcasts.
