Do You Have a Support Group?

There aren’t many things we can achieve in business without the help of others.

And it’s so lovely to share our dreams and ambitions with other mums running their own businesses.

So, I jumped at the chance of helping to set up the Scottish Mumpreneurs Network – Dumfries & Galloway Group.

At our very first meeting back in September 2010, there were 8 of us with an exciting mix of businesses including: an author, a therapist, an interior designer, a virtual assistant, a cupcake maker, 2 guest house owners and an alpaca breeder!

The interesting thing was that while we all ran different businesses, we all had so many things in common: kids, passions, hopes & fears, big ideas and a need to connect with other like minded women.

In the space of two hours we supported each others business ambitions, pooled our ideas, inspired each other on to greater things and made some wonderful friendships.

The group has steadily grown and we now have over 20 mumpreneurs in our group.  We meet to support each other, learn and grow.  We’ve made some wonderful business contacts and connections.

It’s so important for us to feel as though we belong and are supported.  I encourage you to look at your support groups this week and if they aren’t giving you what you need, find one that does.  Or better still – start your own!
