Join a Blog Carnival
I was delighted to be asked to take part in a blog carnival this week. Sounded fabbytastic, like a big on-line party and I guess that’s exactly what it is.
A blog carnival is when a group of bloggers in the same niche all get together to create a community and each of them hosts an event. The event can run for a day or over several days.
They list blog posts from bloggers in the niche on a particular topic. Our group was from the parenting blogsphere and were primarily mummy bloggers and mumpreneurs. Our topic was Work Life Balance and my post was What is a Mumpreneur?
Our event runs for 2 weeks from 29th March to 12th April. You can catch it here hosted by Antonia Chitty from Family Friendly Working.
If you’re wondering if it would be a good idea to join a blog carnival yourself, have a think about the following benefits:
- It’s a great way to establish a new blog or get new readers
- You’ll drive traffic to your blog
- Your list will grow.
- It’s a great opportunity to develop on-line relationships
- It makes it easy to find new blogs in your niche
- Opportunities can arise for joint ventures
- You will create associations with bigger blogs in your niche
So, what are you waiting for? Check out which Blog Carnivals are currently running over at Blog Carnival and go party!
Hi Heather!
I have been heard about them but never participated in one. What a cool idea! I’ll have to go check it out. Thanks for the tip. Hope it brings you lots of traffic.

Jeanine, I think it would be great to join a blog carnival in your niche.
It’s a brilliant way to spread the word and get more readers to your lovely blog.
Let me know if you do and I’ll help spread the love.

Hi Heather, I have heard of Blog Carnivals but I really am not sure about how it works. I will definitely check them out and in some ways, it sounds like a Challenge – just shorter in duration 🙂

Hi Diana,
Welcome to Mums Got A Business.
Blog carnivals can be a challenge if you get involved as a host. Then you have to find a group of bloggers and ask for blog posts on a particular topic.
If you are participating as a featured blog then all you have to do is send in your post to the host – it’s easy and probably the best way to start. That’s what I did.
I haven’t been asked to be a host this time round. It may be something I do in the future. I might even organise a carnival of my own – that would be cool.
Let me know if you get involved in one – I’d love to support you.

I was aware of them, but never participated.

Wonderful tip for a blogging adventure!
Anything with the word, “Carnival”, in it sounds good to me! Takes me back to my childhood. I x’d off the days on my mum’s kitchen calendar until the carnival came to town. 🙂
I like the way you’re participating, Heather, as a featured blog in lieu of being a host. Sounds pretty straightforward, simple, and well worth looking into.
Thank you for providing a fun way to help your readers boost their blog’s visibility. You shine!
