Monday Mumpreneur with Lisa Fisher
Every Monday we feature a mumpreneur who’s ready and willing to open up their lives to us. They share with us their motivation, challenges and proudest moments in business and they also tell us how they take time to nurture themselves. It’s lovely to have them here at Mums Got A Business and we hope you enjoy connecting with them too.
This week's featured mumpreneur figured out that it wouldn't be worth going back to work and paying childcare costs - as she'd be working for nothing. A situation a lot of us find ourselves in.
Instead, with the help of her wonderful and supportive family, she has set up a very new (Sept 2011) business just in time to catch the Christmas rush.
Let's watch her grow in 2012 and give her our support.

I co founded Handbags at bagsy that with my mother in law in September. So we are a very new company. We sell all styles of handbags from everyday to evening bags. All of our products are picked by myself and my mother in law and are all very high quality but wont break the bank.
What motivated you to become a mumpreneur?
I decided to become a mumpreneur with the help of my mother in law earlier this year. If it wasnt for her I wouldn't have been able to do this. She has provided the majority of the finance and I designed the website and took control of the advertising. As a full time mum I actually took the project on as I wanted to earn money but as I did the sums I found that it wouldn't be worthwhile going back to work and having to pay the childcare costs, I would have been working for free!
what's been your biggest challenge? And how have you overcome it?
The biggest challenge has been figuring out how to market the website and I have to be honest we arent completely there yet, but with the support and encouragement of my husband, mother in law and father in law they have given me the confidence that we will be successful!
What's been your proudest business moment?
My proudest moment was definitely when the first order came in, I have to admit it was all very exciting to see that the hard work and the time taken up actually paid off.
What's your favourite quote or catchprase?
My favourite quote is "To be successful, you have to have your heart in your business, and your business in your heart"
What do you do to relax and nurture yourself?
To relax I like to read historical fiction usually around the Tudor period.
What was the last treat you bought for yourself?
The last treat I bought for myself was a pandora charm that says family.
Favourite colour: My favourite colour is teal
Favourite flowers: and my favourite flowers are anthuriums.
What one piece of advice would you give to a new mumpreneur?
If I was going to give any advice I would say that if you have the passion and idea then give it a go and if at first you dont succeed try try again.
