Monday Mumpreneur with Louise Humphryes from Supermum Surrey

On Mondays we feature a mumpreneur just like you and me who’s ready and willing to open up their lives and their business to us.

They share with us their motivation, their challenges and their proudest moments in business and they also tell us how they take time to nurture themselves.

If you’re looking for inspiration, then our featured business mums show you what’s possible.

This week’s mumpreneur inspires us to help each other in order for all of us to succeed. We love her philosophy.

Tell us about your business:

In November 2013 I created a Supermum Surrey Facebook page and invited my friends and family to join. I then began networking with mums across surrey and invited them to share their small business on our page. Before long we had a few thousand members and a real community had grown.

It then occurred to me that we could build upon the Facebook page idea and develop a website where our Supermums could create a full business profile all linked to their social media sites as well as a customer rating mechanism for each member. This would allow any potential buyers to easily find trusted, reliable services in Surrey.

What motivated you to become a mumpreneur?

It all started out as a hobby, I felt really comfortable networking with small businesses and I really enjoy what I do, the lovely emails, and FB ratings really motivated me.

What's been your biggest challenge in business?

The biggest challenge is having enough time to manage the business. As any parent knows, there is a fine art to time management when you have a young child.

How have you overcome it?

I try to spend as much time with my daughter as possible and do the majority of the Supermum work in the evenings

What's been your proudest business moment?

Winning a best new business award! I couldn't believe the endorsements I received.

What's your catchphrase or favourite quote?

‘Mums helping mums’ I think its very important for all women to help each other succeed, no matter how similar the other business may be.

What do you do to relax or nurture yourself?

As most of you women who run a small business know its so hard to find time to yourself, but I do like a pamper, I have met many beauty therapists through Supermums.

What was the last treat you bought for yourself?

Aww, I will let you into a little secret, it was Channel sunglasses (I told my partner they where £100 but they where £500)

Favourite colour: Purple

Favourite flowers: Roses

What one piece of advice would you like to give to a new mumpreneur?

Talk to friends and family when things get tough, too many wonderful businesses end due to pressure.
