Tell us about your business
I'm a tax return coach helping you get unstuck about tax and accounts so you feel free to grow your business. I'm not the usual at all! I send my one to one clients a chocolate brownie and have retreats and courses as well as coaching. One reason I wanted to be on Mum's Got A Business is because Heather is all about self care as an essential part of business and that's a core part of my business too. There's nothing better than making a difference in the life of a mumpreneur struggling to get her head around the tax and finances part of having a business by using self care and ease as part of it 🙂
What motivated you to become a mumpreneur?
I've always wanted my own business so it was a no brainer really. My stepson has now finished university and is looking for work. He's starting to appreciate now why his dad and I have our own businesses.
What’s been your biggest challenge in business?
Listening to my own voice about what right for me and my business. It's so easy to focus on what everyone else is doing.
How have you overcome it?
I started to ignore the 'noise' and tune in to what feels right for me. Over time help and support that fits with me came out of nowhere and I now have a clear vision for the next 3 years. I love it and I feel so much more at ease and calmer now.
What’s been your proudest business moment?
Representing millions of small businesses at government meetings as part of the EU VAT Action Campaign.
What’s your catchphrase or favourite quote?
Oooh. Can I have 2? Success mean support. Cake and nature solves most problems.
What do you do to relax or nurture yourself?
I have little routines to help me rebalance, especially in the winter. I do little things throughout my day and record them with a tracker (because when I have lots to do I forget to look after myself and it both reminds me what I've done and what else I can do). Little things like my camomile tea, reading 5 minutes of a book, going outside and lying flat for 5 minutes make a big difference. (If you'd like my tracker, it's part of the free Resources Pack with the Self Care For Your Finances retreat I host with Heather.
What was the last treat you bought for yourself?
An energy healing session at Selfridges in London
Favourite colour
The rainbow of my home grown tomatoes nestling in my wicker basket
Favourite flowers
Daffodils in spring
What one piece of advice would you like to give to a new mumpreneur?
It's ok to feel like you have so much to learn and you don't know very much yet. We've all been there. Trust that you'll be ok and accept lots of support. No-one does this alone.
